Buhler Wrestling to be Well Represented at State in Salina

BUHLER, Kan. – Buhler wrestling will be well represented at State this coming week with three girls and five boys advancing out of regionals.

At last weekend’s Girls Regional at Wellington, freshman Kimber Crabbs nabbed the regional title at 105 with a 9-4 decision over Veronica Greene of Cimarron. She’ll be joined at State by fellow freshman Macey Parks who placed fourth at 140. Emilie Schweizer, in her final campaign, heads back to State after defeating Rose Hill’s Payton Scholander by fall in the regional final at 190.

105 – 1st Place Match

140 – 3rd Place Match

Taya Rowley (Chapman) 24-8, So. over Macey Parks (Buhler) 26-14, Fr. (Fall 2:40)

190 – 1st Place Match

Emilie Schweizer (Buhler) 28-0, Sr. over Payton Sholander (Rose Hill) 14-3, Sr. (Fall 1:32)

It was the boys’ turn this past weekend at McPherson, where Colton Parson won the regional title 113 with a 10-9 decision over Evan Fry of Scott Community. Freshman Sammy Hershberger wrestled a close final at 120, losing by decision, 1-0, to Concordia’s Koby Tyler. Cruz Hershberger also finished second, dropping a 10-4 decision to Tucker Wark of Colby at 138.

At 144, Senior Jaxon Roeder joins his teammates headed to State by placing third with a 9-2 decision over Wamego’s Tayke Weber. Cooper McCloy also wrestled his way to a third-place finish at 165, defeating Eli Schubert of Abilene by fall.

Tony’s Pizza Events Center in Salina will host four days of State Wrestling beginning February 22nd. The girls take the mat first on Wednesday and Thursday, followed by the boys on Friday and Saturday.
