The Buhler girls soccer team defeated Great Bend 2-1 in double overtime Monday at Cavanaugh Field in Great Bend.

Madi McCool scored an unassisted goal for the Buhler varsity’s first goal. Zoey Dick scored the second goal on an assist from Lakin Yoder.

It was the second double overtime of the season for the Crusader varsity (2-0-1), who tied Hutchinson 1-1 last Thursday.

“We’ve gotta stay out of overtime, but so proud of the girls and their fight tonight,” said Buhler soccer coach Randall Rank on the team’s Facebook page.

In the Crusaders’ junior varsity team’s 3-1 win over the Panther JV squad, KaAliyah Williams scored a hat trick on assists from Camryn White, Payton Polk and Bella Morones.

The Buhler varsity girls and JV girls soccer teams play matches next Tuesday at Augusta.

“Now it’s time for a week off — recover, reset, and get better,” Rank said. “We’re back at it next Tuesday as we travel to Augusta for our first league matchup.”
