TRACK AND FIELD
Buhler track and field swept last Friday’s AVCTL III meet held at Crusader Stadium in convincing fashion. Both the boys and girls overpowered second place McPherson.

All totaled, Buhler captured 15 individual event titles and 41 top-three finishes.
The boys swept the top three spots in the 110 hurdles, with junior Zach Friesen racing to a first-place time of 14.86 seconds. They did the same in the 300 distance, with freshman Landon Martinez finishing first at 40.25 seconds.
Sophomore Lillie Ledford led a trio of Crusaders to the tape in the girls’ 200-meter dash with a time of 25.81 seconds. Ledford also placed first in the 400 meters, finishing ahead of the field in 1:00.32 seconds.
Buhler will be one of five AVCTL teams to compete at the Class 4A Abilene Regional on Thursday, May 22nd. Qualifiers from the state’s four regionals will then compete at the state meet, May 30-31 in Wichita.
SWIMMING
Buhler swimming & diving placed runner-up at last Friday’s nine-team AVCTL meet in Hutchinson. It’s been an outstanding regular season for the Crusaders, who finished with a team score of 378. Winfield captured the league title with a score of 472.
Hannah Swain recorded a time of 2:10.78 and placed second in the 200 Freestyle. Swain was also part of the 400 Free Relay Team that finished second with a state qualifying time of 4:10.67.
Ellie Goering won the league diving title in impressive fashion. Her final score of 282.40 broke the previous school record. Evey Brooks finished in second with a score of 248.70.
Swain, Goering, and Brooks will be among the Crusaders to compete at the state meet later this week in Topeka. A complete list of state qualifiers can be found here.
