Golf
During the home invitational on Sept. 27, Buhler placed third as a team with a score of 348. Coming in second was Wellington with 340 and Maize took first scoring a 321. Individuals like Anika Paulsrud and Macy Miller also placed well. Paulsrud placed fifth while carding a 76 and Miller placed 12th, scoring 82.
Continuing the momentum, Buhler placed well as a team at the Newton Invitational held on Oct. 1. With a 341 in the final, Andover won the invitational. The Crusaders carded 369, which put them in second place. Three individuals all placed within the top 11. Paulsrud carded 79 placing her in third, while the other two Crusaders were back-to-back with each other. Paityn Weber scored a 94 finishing tenth and one point behind was Miller who carded 95 and placed 11th.
Tennis
The Crusaders competed at the Wichita Collegiate Tournament of Champions on Sept. 28 which led to several singles and doubles placings. Sophia Spies went 4-1 on the day and placed fifth. Her only loss would be to the eventual champion. Ashlyn Coker had a record of 3-2 on the day, placing her 21st. She won her final match of the day 8-0. Doubles partners Katelyn Harding and Kylee Bradshaw placed 31st while Addie Caywood and Emily Allen finished 22nd in doubles.
Buhler traveled to the Smoky Valley Invitational on Oct. 1, where improvements were made and finished higher. Coker found herself placing fifth in singles along with Cassidy Banning who placed 13th. Both doubles pairs found themselves in good standing after they competed. Caywood/Allen finished third and Harding/Bradshaw placed eighth.
Cross Country
The Crusaders discovered that both the boys’ and girls’ teams performed extremely well when they traveled to Lawrence for the Rim Rock Classic on Sept. 28. The girls’ team won the Blue Divison Championship scoring 241, while Eudora came in second with a 256. Corbin Starkweather placed 6th running a time of 20:15.00 which was only 15 seconds out of the top four times.
The boys’ team scored 276 which put them fourth out of 43 teams in the Crimson Divison. The Crusaders were just two points behind Dodge City who placed third. Gavin Lindahl had a time of 16:34.70 finishing tenth. He was only seven seconds out of a top-five time.
Volleyball
The Crusaders traveled to the Newton Invitational on Sept. 28, where there was major competition. The team went 2-3 on the day, defeating McPherson and Newton in two straight sets. Buhler then took Andale to a third set before losing 14-25, 25-20, 13-25.
Hosting a triangular on Oct. 1, the Crusaders came out on top going 2-0 on the night. Buhler defeated Augusta 25-20, 25-15 after just two sets. On top of that, they defeated Mulvane 25-18 and 25-15.
Soccer
During a home game against Hutchinson on Sept. 30, the Crusaders lost 3-0. Having a quick turnaround, Buhler was on the road to Augusta on Oct. 1 where both teams tied at 0-0. The team travels to Rose Hill on Thursday before returning home to host three games next week.
