Cross country runners from Buhler, Hutchinson Trinity and Inman competed in 5K races at the Buhler Invitational Thursday at Prairie Ridge Cross Country Park in Hutchinson.
The meet was hosted by Buhler High School.
“What a great day yesterday turned out to be,” said Buhler cross country coach Curtis Morgan. “It was almost perfect for a cross country meet. I appreciate your patience with the parking situation due to the wet course.”
Hutchinson Trinity placed third in the varsity boys team standings with 81 points and Buhler finished sixth with 127 points. Southeast of Saline won the boys competition with 60 points, followed by Andale with 76.
McPherson and Great Bend finished fourth and fifth in the varsity boys competition with 108 and 116 points.
Wichita Defenders Homeschool placed seventh in the varsity boys 5K with 184 points, followed by Winfield 222, Goddard 233, Salina South 236 and Clearwater 284.
Buhler finished second in the varsity girls 5K team standings with 73 points. Crusader runners Corbin Starkweather and Isabella Friesen placed fourth and fifth.
Great Bend, which had runners finish first, second and third (Deborah Schroeter, Bella Long and Sydney Stein), won the meet with 67 points.
Southeast of Saline placed third in the varsity girls 5K team standings with 76 points, followed by Berean Academy 92, McPherson 115, Wichita Defenders Homeschool 155, Andale 159, Haysville-Campus 182, Goddard 208 and Mulvane 235.
Hutchinson Trinity also placed second in the junior varsity boys 5K standings with 44 points. Buhler placed fifth with 121.
Buhler claimed first place in the JV girls 5K team standings with 26 points, beating out Campus (38) and Berean Academy (62).
