The Buhler Crusader girls tennis team placed second at the eight-team Hesston Invitational Thursday.
The Crusaders, who placed third at the Hesston Invitational in 2024, missed placing first at the 2025 meet by 1 point.
McPherson won the team title with 26 points, followed by Buhler 25, Hesston 21, Wichita Collegiate 15, Maize South 10, Smoky Valley 7, Wichita Trinity Academy 7 and Abilene 4.
Buhler’s No. 1 doubles team of Emily Allen and Kylee Bradshaw placed first with a 3-0 record.
Sofia Spies placed second at No. 1 singles and Ella Gillespie finished second in No. 2 singles. Both posted 2-1 records.
At No. 2 doubles, Buhler’s Katelyn Harding and Payton Barnes placed third with a 1-2 record.
The McPherson Bullpups placed first in No. 1 doubles (Dragon Rodriguez and McKenna Paul), No. 2 singles (Mayson Wiens) and No. 2 doubles (Avery Unruh and Quinn Liebl) with 3-0 records and placed second in No. 1 singles (Maryn Sandbo) at 2-1.
The Buhler girls tennis team competed Saturday at the Salina Central Invitational.
