The Buhler High School girls swimming and diving team took second place at the Hutchinson Invitational on Wednesday at the Hutchinson YMCA pool.

The Hutchinson YMCA is the home pool for the Buhler Crusaders and Hutchinson Salthawks girls and boys swim teams.

Hutchinson placed first in the meet with 557 points, followed by Buhler with 432, Liberal 263, Dodge City 223, Holcomb 171 and Garden City 161.

Diving did not happen at the Hutchinson meet, allowing Buhler’s divers to compete in other individual events.

“It was a learning meet for many swimmers, but still some great times were set,” said Buhler swim coach Shane DeWeese. “The medley relay was a rough event with all three relays disqualifying. It set a challenge for the rest of the meet and the girls rose to the challenge.”

Reyne Kaufman led the team in the 200 individual medley in third place and Cora Nuttmann in fourth.
