The Buhler High School girls basketball team placed seventh and the Buhler boys finished eighth at the Rock Creek Furry on the Flush Tournament Saturday afternoon in St. George.
The Buhler girls defeated Baldwin 45-31 in the seventh-place girls game. The Buhler boys lost 60-50 to Baldwin in the seventh-place boys game.
In the seventh-place girls game, Buhler (2-5) and Baldwin (2-4) were tied 8-8 at the end of the first quarter.
In the second quarter, Baldwin took a 17-12 lead but the Crusaders went on a 11-2 run to to lead at halftime 23-19.
The Crusaders held Baldwin to 12 points in the second half. Buhler led 32-26 at the end of the third quarter and outscored the Bulldogs 13-5 in the fourth quarter.
Ella Voss led the Crusader girls in scoring with 13 points. Ryan Gotti added 9, Nyah Sewell 7 and Kaia Edmond 6. Voss also had 6 rebounds, 3 steals and 3 assists.
The Crusader girls lost to Rock Creek 53-42 in the first round Thursday and fell to Goodland 55-39 in the consolation round on Friday.
In the seventh-place boys game, Buhler (4-3) trailed 30-25 at halftime. Baldwin outscored Buhler 22-9 in the third quarter to push the Bulldogs’ lead to 52-34. Baldwin (also 4-3) held the Crusaders to three field goals in the period.
The Buhler Crusader boys went on a 16-3 run to cut the Bulldogs’ lead to 7 points at 55-48 with 1:39 left in the game and 57-50 with 32 seconds left. The Bulldogs tacked on 3 points in the final second for the 60-50 final score.
Jacob Miller led the Crusaders with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Jared Miller scored a season-high 10 points. Zach Chance and Asher Zachary each scored 8 points. Isaiah Heredia scored just 2 points but handed out 8 assists.
The Buhler boys lost to Rock Creek 66-39 in the first round Thursday and lost to Goodland 55-47 in the consolation round on Friday.
The Buhler boys and girls will open the 2026 part of the schedule on Jan. 6 at Towanda against Circle. The Crusader squads play at Winfield Jan. 9. Buhler plays home games Jan. 13 against Augusta and Jan. 16 against Clearwater.
Other Rock Creek Tournament scores (Thursday and Friday)— In other first-round boys results from Thursday, Eudora beat Goodland 62-56, Hays beat Manhattan CHIEF (Christian Homes in Educational Fellowship) 51-31 and Hesston beat Silver Lake 70-54.
In the boys semifinals Friday, Hays defeated Hesston 56-54 and Rock Creek defeated Eudora 68-61. In the consolation round, Topeka Hayden defeated Silver Lake 64-57.
In other first-day girls results, Hesston defeated Silver Lake 56-38, Hays defeated Manhattan CHIEF 61-23 and Eudora defeated Goodland 47-45.
In the girls semifinals Friday, Silver Lake defeated Hays 62-41 and Eudora defeated Rock Creek 58-55. In the consolation bracket, Hesston defeated Topeka Hayden 55-47.
