The McPherson girls basketball team defeated the Buhler girls 44-41 in overtime Friday night at the McPherson Roundhouse and the McPherson boys overpowered the Crusader boys 68-46.
The McPherson girls led 15-6 after one quarter, 21-16 at halftime and 31-24 at the end of the third quarter.
The Buhler girls tied the score 39-39 in regulation. McPherson outscored the Crusaders 5-2 in overtime.
Tori Tustian led the Buhler girls in scoring with 11 points. Kaia Edmond scored 9 points, Kinsley Combs scored 7, Ella Voss 4, Jenna Lackey 3, Addy Keller 3, Maddie Stallman 2 and Harlie Terrell 2.
Tustian and Keller each had 4 rebounds. Voss had 2 assists. Combs had 5 steals. Voss blocked 3 shots and Stallman 2.
Rylie Whitfield led the McPherson girls with 16 points. She made 4-of-7 3-point shots. Brooke Doile had 8 points and 11 rebounds. Piper Alvord scored 7 points.
The Buhler Crusader boys trailed the McPherson Bullpup boys 17-11 at the end of the first quarter, 33-16 at halftime and 48-33 after three quarters. McPherson outscored the Crusaders 20-13 in the fourth quarter.
Buhler’s Brycen McCurdy scored 20 points, including three 3-pointers. Luke Holmberg added 8 points, Isaiah Heredia 6, Gabe Edmund 6, Jared Miller 3 and Jacob Miller 3. Edmund grabbed 5 rebounds and Heredia 4. Heredia also had 3 assists and 3 steals.
Eli Reasoner led the Bullpups with 21 points, 9 rebounds and 2 blocked shots. He made 11-of-12 free throws. Jett Pyle scored 14 points and dished off 6 assists. Cole Cooper scored 10 points and grabbed 7 rebounds.
Buhler hosts Mulvane Tuesday and Towanda-Circle next Friday at Jim Baker Fieldhouse in Buhler.
McPherson won the junior varsity boys game 50-47. Buhler won the JV girls game 49-32, the C team girls game 17-10 and the ninth grade boys game 50-45.
