Buhler Cross Country Shines at Sterling Invitational With Record-Breaking Performances

Buhler cross country is heating up at just the right time. With the postseason fast approaching, the Crusaders turned in one of their best all-around performances of the season at the Sterling Invitational.

The girls’ team captured the championship, placing four runners in the top 10. Corbin Starkweather led the way, winning the race and breaking her own school record with a time of 18:49.8. All four of Buhler’s top finishers set personal records.

The boys’ team also impressed, with six of seven runners recording career-best times.

Gavin Lindahl won the individual title in 15:41.2 as Buhler finished third behind Trinity Catholic and Pratt.

Next up, the Crusaders head to L.W. Clapp Park in Wichita on Thursday for the AVCTL Division III & IV League Meet, before hosting a Class 4A Regional on October 25 at Prairie Ridge Cross Country Park.

The girls are eyeing a repeat as state champions, and the boys look to continue their incredible streak of top-two state finishes — now seven years running.
