Buhler Boys Fall to Top Ranked Wichita Collegiate While Crusader Girls Secure Victory

The Buhler High School boys basketball team lost to Wichita Collegiate, the No. 1 boys program in Kansas Class 3A, 76-40 Tuesday night at the Jim Baker Fieldhouse in Buhler.

Wichita Collegiate led the Buhler boys 20-10 after one quarter. 40-16 at halftime and 53-30 after three quarters.

Collegiate’s Kamari Jennings, AJ Batiste and Mason Bond each hit four 3-pointers in the win for the Spartans. Jennings finished with 24 points. Batiste and Bond each had 14. Sebastian Hines-Turner scored 11.

Brycen McCurdy made 6 of his 11 field goal attempts and scored 12 points for Buhler. Jared Miller scored 8 points, Jacob Miller 6, Luke Holmberg 6, Landon Martinez 4, Gabe Edmond 2 and Isaiah Heredia 2.

Carson Seidl and Nick Chance played but did not score. Chance grabbed 3 rebounds.

Jacob Miller and Gabe Edmond each had 4 rebounds for the Crusaders. Heredia dished off 7 assists.

Collegiate outrebounded Buhler 28-20 (11-2 on the offensive glass), forced 17 turnovers and committed just 9 miscues.

The Buhler girls basketball team defeated Wichita Collegiate 56-45. The Crusader girls led 14-5 after one quarter and 26-21 at halftime.

Harlie Terrell led the Buhler girls with 11 points. Tori Tustian added 9 points, Kaia Edmond 7, Jenna Lackey 7, Nyah Sewell 6, Ella Voss 5, Addy Keller 4, Maddie Stallman 4 and Kinley Combs 3.

Kenzie Polk did not score but contributed 1 rebound and 1 assist.

Voss had 5 rebounds, 7 assists, 3 steals and 2 blocked shots. Edmond and Stallman each had 4 rebounds. Lackey, Sewell and Tustian each had 3 steals. Stallman blocked 3 shots and Combs blocked 2 shots.

Buhler forced 26 turnovers and committed 19. Collegiate out rebounded Buhler 32-25. Buhler shot all of its free throws in the second half.

Buhler plays at McPherson on Friday night at the Roundhouse. Wichita Collegiate hosts Wellington on Friday night.
