Buhler Boys Clip McPherson, Crusader Girls Fall to Bullpups

The Buhler High School varsity boys basketball team clipped McPherson 49-48 and the Crusader girls basketball team lost by a 31-28 margin.

In the varsity boys game, Buhler led the Bullpups 18-12 after one quarter and 25-20 at halftime. The score was tied 37-37 at the end of the third quarter. Buhler outscored the Bullpups 12-11 in the fourth quarter.

It was the second straight 1-point win by the Buhler boys. Last Friday, Buhler defeated Hutchinson 65-64 on a buzzer-beater shot by Isaiah Heredia.

In the varsity girls game, McPherson led 8-3 at the end of the first quarter, 12-8 at halftime and 21-11 at the end of the third quarter. Buhler went on a 17-10 run in the fourth quarter to cut the Bullpups’ final margin of victory to 3 points.

The Buhler boys, ranked sixth in Kansas Class 4A, improved to 4-0. The Buhler girls dropped to 1-3.

The Crusader teams will travel to Rock Creek high school for tournament play this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
