The Buhler High School boys track team was edged out by Andale for the Kansas Class 4A state championship Saturday.
Andale won the state title with 79.5 points, followed by Buhler with 70 and Wamego with 67.
The state track meet took place Friday and Saturday at Crossland Stadium on the Wichita State University campus.
Buhler High School senior Zach Friesen captured the first-place gold medal in the 4A boys 110-meter hurdles at the Kansas State High School Track and Field Championships Saturday with a time of 14.72 seconds.
Friesen posted a second-place preliminary time of 14.93 seconds in the 110 hurdles and was ninth in the 200 hurdles prelims (41.71).
Buhler sophomore Garrett Gleason captured the Class 4A boys 100-meter dash gold medal with a first-place time of 10.63 seconds. He set a personal record and a Kansas Top 25 time.
Gleason placed first in the 4A boys 100-meter dash preliminaries with a time of 10.67 seconds. He also brought home a gold medal in the 4A boys 200-meter dash with a personal record time of 21.71 seconds.
Gleason placed second in the 4A boys high jump Friday morning at the state meet, clearing 6 feet, 2 inches. He also placed 11th in the boys long jump finals (20-5.5).
Buhler’s Bishop Holmes placed 12th in the boys high jump with a personal record of 6-0. Teammate Dexter Fleeman placed 14th (5-10).
Buhler’s Jacob Miller finished second in the 4A boys javelin with a personal record and Kansas Top 50 mark (17-8).
Buhler junior Gavin Lindahl placed third in the 4A boys 3200-meter race with a Kansas Top 50 time (9:32.22). Teammate Ryan Cherry was 11th (10:10.65).
Buhler’s Myjian Lee-McGlynn placed 13th in the 4A boys shot put (46-2.75) and teammate William Griffin placed 15th (43-10.75).
Owen Kneisel placed 12th in the 110 hurdles prelims (15.72) and 10th in the 200-meter prelims (41.75).
