Buhler Basketball Teams Sweep Nickerson in Season Opener

A 25-point second quarter helped the Buhler girls cruise past Nickerson 61–17 in Friday’s opener at Jim Baker Fieldhouse.

The Lady Crusaders forced 40 turnovers and had 12 players score, led by 11 each from Kaia Edmund and Tori Tustian. Ryan Gotti added 8 points and 7 rebounds.

“You could talk about the 14 kids that played tonight and every single kid was doing positive things,” said head coach John Darrow. “I thought we shared the basketball at a very high level.”

The Buhler boys also rolled, opening on a 23–8 run.

Buhler shot 47% from the field as three Crusaders reached double figures.

Brycen McCurdy scored 22 points on 9-of-11 shooting in his first start, while Asher Zachary added 12 points and 7 rebounds. Luke Holmberg scored 10.
