BUHLER, Kan. – It was another clean sweep for Buhler baseball (10-4) and softball (11-3) on Monday at Wheatland Park, as both teams won a pair over Wellington.

BASEBALL GAME ONE: Buhler 11, Wellington 1

Buhler baseball got on the board early in game one, scoring two runs in the first inning and four in the second, and won 11-1 over Wellington. A Mitchel McDaniel triple drove in one of Buhler’s four runs in the second inning, with Dylan Scripsick scoring from first base. McDaniel finished the game 2-3 and now leads the team in hits on the season with 18.

Brayden Henry pitched another gem on the bump, tossing six innings of one-run ball. In his last 14 innings of work, Henry has surrendered just the one run while striking out 16 opposing hitters.

BASEBALL GAME TWO: Buhler 5, Wellington 3

Buhler spotted Wellington three runs on a pair of defensive errors early in game two and trailed, 3-0, going into the fourth inning. A four-run fourth inning turned the game around and eventually led to a 5-3 Crusader victory.

Oddly enough, only one of those four runs was scored off a hit. The other three were the result of four walks, a hit batter, two errors, and a passed ball.

Asher Zachary earned a team-best fourth win on the season, giving up just four hits over seven innings.

SOFTBALL GAME ONE: Buhler 9, Wellington 1

Buhler softball scattered 9 runs and 11 hits over six innings to take game one against Wellington, 9-1. Sidney Quint and Alexa Adame each had three hits and two runs batted in.

Lillian Horne struck out six Wellington batters over seven innings in the circle.

Quint again provided some heroics in game two, smacking a one-out home run to left in the seventh inning that tied the game at three. On the season, she has amassed a team-best 25 hits, four home runs, 17 RBIs, and 24 runs scored.

The Crusaders eventually won the game in walk-off fashion, 4-3, in the ninth, with Annistym Cram scoring on a sacrifice bunt by Taylor Kesinger.

Both teams are home again in Wheatland Park on Thursday to host Augusta.
