BUHLER, Kan. – On Friday, November 22nd the Buhler Crusaders (9-2) will battle the Andover Central Jaguars (10-1) in Andover for a ticket to the 4A State Championship game.

After an upset win against the Wamego Red Raiders, the Buhler Crusaders advance to sub-state.

The Crusaders defeated the Red Raiders 28-14 after a dominant first half by the defense and pivotal drives completed by the offense in the second.

The Crusaders are taking on the Andover Central Jaguars this Friday. The last time these two teams met, the contest ended in an Andover Central win, 20-14, week 1 of last year.

Ironically, these two teams met in the same situation 3 years ago, with Andover Central winning 21-19, the Jaguars then went on to win the 4A State championship.

The Crusaders look to return to the state championship game; the last time they made an appearance was in 2016.

Energy was the key to the Crusader’s upset win over the Red Raiders and every win this postseason.

¨We are very excited for the game at Andover Central. The players and coaches appreciate the support from our community. The atmosphere at Wamego was unreal,¨ said head coach Steve Warner after the game last week.

The Crusaders are prepared for their game against the Jaguars.

“We needed to control the ball and not let their offense have a lot of chances to make plays,” said senior running back Mitchell McDaniel.

When senior Brady Gotti was asked about his thoughts on this matchup he said, “They’re big. They’re fast. The bigger they are, the harder they fall. The faster they are, the harder we hit.”

This substate matchup will take place at Andover Central’s home field at 7 p.m. on November 22nd. Tickets can only be purchased online at: https://gofan.co/event/2283771schoolId=KS25095
