Hutchinson CC Sports Information
Earning the No. 2 overall seed, the Hutchinson Community College women’s soccer team will open the 2025 Region 6 Division I Tournament at home on Saturday.
The 19th-ranked Blue Dragons (11-2-4) will play host to the seventh-seeded Dodge City Conquistadors (6-10-0) at 4 p.m. on Saturday at the Salthawk Soccer Complex.
The game will be free of charge for fans and a live stream will be available on the Blue Dragon Sports Network.
Hutchinson enters the postseason on a nine-game unbeaten streak (6 wins, 3 ties) to close the season. This is the highest seed for the Blue Dragons entering the postseason since 2022 when they were the second seed.
Last season, the Blue Dragons advanced to the Region 6 Tournament championship game for the first time since 2014, dropping a battle in penalty kicks to Cowley.
Hutchinson swept the season series with Dodge City this season. The Blue Dragons defeated the Conquistadors 8-1 on October 10 in a game that started on September 17, but was suspended by weather. Then on October 12, the Dragons scored midway through the second half for a 1-0 victory.
This will be the second-straight season the Blue Dragons and Conquistadors meet in the opening round of the Region 6 Tournament. The Dragons won last year’s game 1-0 in double overtime. Saturday’s meeting will be the third overall postseason game between Hutchinson and Dodge City. Before last year, the only other Region 6 Tournament game between Hutchinson and Dodge City came in 2011, a 13-0 Blue Dragon victory.
Earning the No. 2 seed, the Blue Dragons could play host to the Region 6 Tournament semifinals on Wednesday, November 5. The Hutchinson/Dodge City winner will play the Butler/Seward County winner in the semifinals.
The Blue Dragons are 25-17 all-time in Region 6 Tournament games, including 15-5 in opening-round games.
