Hutchinson CC Sports Information
The No. 13-ranked Hutchinson Community College women’s basketball team saw the NEO Lady Norse jump out to a 13-point first-quarter lead and the Blue Dragons never recovered on Friday at the BSN Sports Tip-Off Classic.
NEO snapped the Blue Dragons’ second-longest home-court win streak in program history, stunning the Blue Dragons 66-56 at the Sports Arena.
The Blue Dragons had their 33-game home-court winning streak and a 10-game home-opening win streak both snapped by the Lady Norse. Hutchinson (2-1) will play Neosho County at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday at the Sports Arena. NEO (3-0) will play Cloud County (1-1) at 1 p.m.

Hutchinson started the game missing 10 of its first 11 shots with two turnovers as NEO jumped out to a 17-4 lead. NEO led 23-17 after one quarter and 35-27 at halftime.
The Dragons looked to have momentum heading in the second half after Jamya McPherson hit a 3-pointer just before the halftime buzzer. Katie Duncan and KaMyra Barber hit baskets to open the third quarter to cut the NEO lead to 35-31. Dylan Alexander then cut the deficit to three at 39-36. The Norse went on a 10-3 run to build a 49-39 lead with 1:03 left in the third.
The Blue Dragons pulled within 59-54 after a Whitney Brown three-point play with 5:14 remaining. The Dragons scored only two points from that point on and NEO pulled away.
The Blue Dragons shot a season-low 32.8 percent (20 of 61), hitting 6 of 19 from 3-point range and 10 of 15 from the foul line. The Dragon had a season-high 27 turnovers.
Duncan led Hutchinson with 15 points. Barber had 13 points, eight rebounds and four assists. Brown hit a pair of 3-pointers and closed with 12 points.
Hutchinson out-rebounded NEO 49-31. Alexander had a game-high 11 rebounds and sophomore Noelle Anthon had 10 rebounds.
NEO shot 42.4 percent (25 of 59), going 6 of 15 from 3-point range and 10 of 17 from the foul line. NEO had 17 turnovers.
Saniyah Morrison had an individual opponent season-high 21 points with eight rebounds and six assists. Ana Carolina-Furtado closed with 12 points.
