Blue Dragon volleyball team takes three sets from Pratt

The Hutchinson Community College volleyball team swept three sets from Pratt Monday at the Dennis Lesh Sports Arena in Pratt.

The Hutchinson Blue Dragons defeated Pratt  25-18, 25-22, 25-20 and improved to 5-4 overall and 1-1 in the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference.

Hutchinson has won 31 consecutive matches over the Beavers.

Atlyn Proctor’s match-high 16 kills on 30 swings to lead the Blue Dragons past the Beavers. Proctor had 5 kills and a block during a key 9-2 first-set surge in the first set.

Sophomore Alondra Villanueva had 11 kills on 23 attacks for a .217 attack percentage. Jaylynn McNeill and Kierny Follmer had six kills each.

Freshman setter Alexandra Garcia had 38 assists, 4 digs and 3 kills on four attacks.

Freshman libero Clara Oliveira had 16 digs. Villanueva had 8 digs and Lauren Vazquez had 5 digs.

Oliveira had 4 aces, while Vazquez and Sorelys Dominguez had 2 aces each.

The Blue Dragons host No. 7-ranked Colby Community College at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Hutchinson Sports Arena.

Hutchinson hosts Garden City Community College at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Sports Arena.

The Blue Dragons play at Cloud County Community College at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 13 at the Arley Bryant Gym in Concordia.

The Blue Dragons will play four matches at the Eastern Wyoming Classic Sept. 17-18 in the EWC Gym and Torrington High School Gym in Torrington, Wyo.

Hutchinson will play Central Wyoming College and North Idaho College on Sept. 17.

The Dragons play Eastern Wyoming College and Colorado Northwestern Community College on Sept. 18.
