HUTCHINSON, Kan. – The Hutchinson Community College volleyball team swept all three Jayhawk Conference Division I Volleyball Player of the Week categories on Tuesday.
After a 3-2 week, which included a four-set victory over No. 16 Indian Hills, sophomore middle blocker Anna Dean was named the league’s Player of the Week, sophomore Giovanna Ravanhani was named Setter of the Week and freshman libero Isabella Rollandini was named Defensive Player of the Week.
This is the first time this season that the Blue Dragons have earned Jayhawk Conference Weekly honors.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Anna Dean
Dean, a 6-foot-1 sophomore from Oswego, had two matches with better than .500 hitting and a weekly .388 attack percentage to lead the Blue Dragons last week.
Dean hit .500 with nine kills on 18 attacks and eight blocks and three aces in Hutchinson’s four-set upset victory over No. 16 Indian Hills at the Mineral Area Tournament. She had a career-high 19 kills on .417 hitting in a four-set loss to MSU-West Plains.
For the week, Dean averaged 2.95 kills, 1.37 blocks and 0.37 aces for Hutchinson. Dean leads the KJCCC in blocks per set at 1.28 and is fifth in attack percentage at .316.
SETTER OF THE WEEK – Giovanna Ravanhani
Ravanhani, a 6-foot setter from Sao Paulo, Brazil, averaged 8.74 assists, 2.11 digs, 0.68 blocks and 0.37 aces for the Blue Dragons.
Ravanhani had 30 assists and was a perfect 5 of 5 on attacks in a three-set win over Pratt. She had 39 assists, six digs and three aces in a four-set win over No. 16 Indian Hills.
She posted her fifth and sixth double-doubles with 30 assists and 10 digs in a sweep of Mineral Area and 40 assist and 11 digs against Vincennes.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Isabella Rollandini
Rollandini, a 5-4 freshman from Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, averaged 4.42 digs per set and had just five service receptions in 156 attempts in a 3-2 week for the Blue Dragons.
Rollandini had a weekly high 23 digs against Mineral Area. She was served an incredible 66 times in a four-set match with MSU-West Plains.
Rollandini also had five service aces to power a strong Blue Dragon serve last week with three coming against MSU-West Plains.
