The Hutchinson Community College men’s basketball team knocked on the door of a preseason Top 25 national ranking, but fell just short as the NJCAA Division I Men’s Basketball preseason rankings were released on Monday.

The Blue Dragons are one of 15 teams in the receiving votes list as the 2025-26 season is set to begin in less than two weeks.

Hutchinson finished 19-12 in Kyle Fisher’s first season at the helm of the Blue Dragons in 2024-25. The Blue Dragons finished fourth in the Jayhawk Conference standings with a 15-9 record and were eliminated in the quarterfinal round of the Region 6 Tournament.

Fans can get a preseason look at the 2025-26 Blue Dragons at 5:30 p.m. on Friday against Seminole State at the Sports Arena.

Hutchinson opens on the road this season with the State Fair Classic in Sedalia, Missouri. The Blue Dragons will play State Fair at 7:30 p.m. on October 31 and NEO at 3 p.m. on November 1.

The Blue Dragons’ home opener will be at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, November 4 against Metropolitan Community College and the BSN Sports Tip-Off Classic on November 7-8 against Southwestern Christian and Lamar.
