Black-Harmon’s Double-Double Fuels Women’s Basketball Swedes Twenty-Point Win over Moundbuilders

WINFIELD, Kan. (BethanySwedes.com) – The Bethany College Swedes were on the road at Southwestern College, Saturday, February 8th. The Swedes were coming into the weekend contest on a three-game winning streak.

The Moundbuilders were off to a quick start and would outscore the Swedes in the first quarter, 16-19. However, Bethany would come out in the second quarter and take control. The Swedes took advantage of Southwestern’s shooting struggles and allowed only 12 points in the second quarter. The score going into halftime was 35-31 with Bethany up by four points. The Swedes came out of the break with even more momentum as they continued to push points and contain the Moundbuilders. The Swedes shot 58% in the third quarter alone from the floor and outscored Southwestern, 25-15, making it a 14-point game. With the fourth quarter left to play, the Swedes hit their stride, shooting a high of 67% from field goal range and quickly shut the door on a Moundbuilders’ comeback. The final score was 90-70 in favor of the Swedes.

Notable stats include, Janae Black-Harmon with another double-double, 13 rebounds, 24 points, and 1 block, Jaden Newfarmer with 8 rebounds, 12 points, and 5 blocks, and Emily Green with 3 assists and 8 rebounds and 8 points.
