LINDSBORG, KAN. (BethanySwedes.com) – It has been a huge couple of weeks for the Tennis teams at home as this time, they played host for the KCAC Fall Championships. The KCAC Fall Championships are individualized tournaments for singles ranked from one to six. Following the individual tournaments were doubles tournaments ranked from one to three.
Women
On the women’s side, in the #2 Singles bracket, Kyla Metro won her first contest 8-5 over Shannon Finn of the University of Saint Mary (USM), but would fall in her second match to the #1 seed Carlotta Klee of Friends University (FU). In the #3 Singles bracket, Ana Castillo would receive a bye in the first round and take care of business in the second round defeating Nikolett Krivek (FU) 8-3. Castillo’s next game would be played on Saturday as she made the semi-finals, but ultimately lost her next two matches placing fourth in the individual tournament. Karee Adam would show dominance in her first match winning 8-0 over Arsys Rojas (USM), but would fall to the #2 seed Brooklynn Kuhn of Sterling College (ST) 8-5.
Men
In the #1 Singles bracket, Francisco Bravo would narrowly escape his first match with a win over Vinicius Costa of Evangel University (EU) 9-7. Bravo would fall in his second match 8-5 to Bruno Suiama (FU). Martin Priban earned a victory over Caige Bjornstad of Avila University (AU) 8-4 before falling to Oscar Giorgio of Ottawa University (OU) 8-2. Zeke Mumford would have the best individual run for the men. Mumford won his first two matches over Stephano Moreano Chan of Tabor College (TC) and Ben Russell (OU) 8-6 and by withdrawal, respectively. He would qualify for the second day where he would initially fall to #3 seed Daniel Marcano of McPherson College (MC) but get the bronze medal as Evan Maritz (USM) withdrew. In the #4 Singles, Carlos Rodriguez would take his first match 8-4 over Peter Jost (TC), but fall to #1 seed Oscar Brouwer (MC) 8-5. Daniel Lozano would win his first match 8-3 over John Ferley (TC), but fall to #2 seed Jayson Wasserfuhr (MC) to the same score.
As for doubles, the pairing of Francisco Bravo and Zeke Mumford in the #1 Doubles showed promise as the would dominate 8-1 over Drue Coen and Caige Bjornstad (AU) in their first match, but fall to Raul Davalos-Gavino and Jack Hanson of Kansas Wesleyan University (KWU) 8-5 in the next round. In the #2 Doubles, Martin Priban and Carlos Rodriguez would coast through their first match, but would fall in a nail-biter in the next round 9-7 to Adam Hanson and Luke Craft (KWU)

The Swedes will have a couple of days to reflect as they will need to get back to grinding for the upcoming ITAs this weekend (September 20-22) and the Kansas Wesleyan University Invitational (September 20-21). Both events will be happening in Salina, Kan beginning at 9:00 AM.
