The Great Bend Bat Cats split a Tuesday doubleheader with the Wichita Wildcats in Rose Hill, dropping the first game 7-5 and winning the second game 4-0.
Both games were seven innings.
The Bat Cats led the first game 5-2 going to the last inning when the Wildcats scored five runs. Landon Haines hit a walk-off three-run home run. Great Bend was outhit 11-7 and nobody had more than one hit. TJ Shaw and Andrugh Yee had a pair of RBIs each.
The Bat Cats rode a strong pitching performance from Jacob Field in the second game. Field pitched a complete game, giving up five hits and one walk while striking out three.
Yee had two hits, and Elias Leon had a hit and one RBI.
The Bat Cats are 14-7 overall and 13-6 in the Jayhawk Collegiate League. They trail the Hutchinson Monarchs by 1 1/2 games for first place. They start a big two-game series with third-place Derby Twins at 7 p.m. Thursday in Great Bend
