Lindsborg, Kan. (BethanySwedes.com) – The Bethany College Baseball team played at home over the weekend against the Ottawa University Braves. The Swedes fought hard against one of the best teams in the conference where they would unfortunately lose all three games.
Game 1
The Braves would strike first and really make it a challenge for the Swedes during the game. The Braves would score in every inning except the first and the last. The Swedes still fought to get a few runs over the plate by Jacob Corps and Caleb Copeland. The score would end 13-2 in favor of the braves
Game 2
This game showed the resilience of the Swedes and desire to comeback despite previous loss. After a few run less innings, Ottawa would strike first in the third. After scoring one run, the Swedes would answer with two of their own in the 3rd inning. Ottawa would bounce back and claim three more runs but the Swedes not willing to go out without a fight would score one more run in the final inning. Great fielding by the Brave made it difficult for the Swedes to catch up and ultimately, they would lose the game 3-4 in the last inning. As tough as it was, the pitching and fielding were exceptional by the Swedes in this game. Pitcher Willian Figueroa would only allow one hit during his time on the mound. Aiden Troup came in to relieve him and had 0 earned run during his time on the mound as well. Despite the unfortunate result, this is one of the best games the Swedes have played all season.
Game 3
With newfound confidence and self-belief, the Swedes came out looking to make things right after barely missing out on their first win of the series. The first three innings would be scoreless as it seemed it would be a defensive game. In the 4th inning, the Braves struck first and continued to dominate at bat. Jan Cruz had multiple shutout innings in this game but it wasn’t enough to get the Swedes the win. Despite the Swedes best efforts, the pitching and fielding by the Braves was just too much and they would fall 0-7.
