HOBBS, NM (BartonSports.com) – The Barton Community College men’s golf team concluded the 2024 season with a 19th place finish last Friday at the NJCAA Division I National Championships held at Rockwind Community Links in Hobbs, New Mexico.
The Cougars saved its best round of the week for the final day, finishing its first trip to nationals since 2014 with a 288 card to finish with a 64-over, 1200 accumulated score. Barton opened with a 303 for 18th place from Tuesday’s opening round, slipping and holding in 19th with 300 and 309 second and third round cards.
Wrapping up a tremendous season and career as a Cougar, Axel Bolander made a seven spot climb in his final round with a 2-under 69 to lead the squad with a 28th place finish. Compiling rounds of 72-71-75, Bolander concluded with a 3-over 287 four-round score.
Tanapoom Kaewjoey led Barton’s final round firing a 3-under 68, countering an 84 round from the day before after opening with 75 and 78 cards, to climb eighteen spots back up the leaderboard for a final standing of 87th at 21-over 305.
Barton’s remaining trio finished a stroke within each other, Kaleb Lambert and Martin Chevallier tied for the 97th position at 25-over 309 with Worathan Thammachokecharoen a stroke back in 101st place 26-over 310.
