Hutchinson Community College freshman KaMyra Barber became the 20th Blue Dragon women’s basketball player to be named to an NJCAA All-America team, earning honorable mention honors on the 2026 Division I All-America team released on Wednesday.

Barber makes it three straight seasons and 4 of the last 5 seasons that the Blue Dragons have had a player on the NJCAA All-America team.

Barber capped an outstanding freshman season leading the Blue Dragons to the 2026 NJCAA National Tournament and leading Hutchinson all the way to the quarterfinal round with a pair of wins in the tournament.

Barber had 21 points and a career-high 17 rebounds in a come-from-behind 54-50 win over Williston State in the opening round.  Barber tallied 14 points and eight rebounds in a 64-53 win over No. 4-seed Northwest Florida State and she had 16 points and six rebounds in a quarterfinal loss to Clarendon. Barber was named to the 2026 All-Tournament team.

Barber was named the 2026 KJCCC Freshman of the Year and was also named to the All-KJCCC first team. The freshman guard from Wichita is the seventh Blue Dragon to be named KJCCC Freshman of the Year.

Barber was the Blue Dragons’ leading scorer this past season at 13.2 points per game and team’s leading rebounder at 6.8 rebounds per game.

Barber had six double-doubles this season with a season-high 23 points against both Murray State and Colby this season. Her regular-season high for rebounds was 13 against Independence.

Barber also averaged 3.3 assists and 1.6 steals per game this season. Barber shot 40.0 percent from the field and 29.1 percent from 3-point range (37 of 127).

Scoring 475 total points in her freshman season, Barber ranks 10th on the Blue Dragon freshman scoring charts. Her 246 rebounds as a freshman tie Jackson Patterson (2011) for 13th on the freshman rebound list.

The 2026 Blue Dragons went 29-7 in 2025-26 with a 20-4 Jayhawk Conference record, which tied with Dodge City for second place.
