HESSTON, Kan. — Ad Astra Radio is proud to announce this week’s Athletes of the Week, Hesston Swathers Asher Deutschendorf and Braiden Liechty!
The week – Deutschedorf (senior) and Liechty (junior) are one of Hesston’s doubles teams, and they took the Class 4A regional championship on Friday in Buhler. The top seed in the regional, Deutschendorf and Liechty received a first-round bye before bullying their way to the championship match, losing just two games combined in their quarterfinal and semifinal wins. Then, the duo took down Winfield’s Adam Everett and Jackson Davis 6-3, 5-7, 6-2 for the title.
The season – Deutschendorf and Liechty will be one of the favorites at the 4A state tournament Friday and Saturday in Winfield. They enter state with a 25-3 record and have the second-best win percentage of all doubles teams.
