BUHLER, Kan. — Ad Astra Radio is proud to announce Buhler High School senior Ryler Hartnett as this week’s Athlete of the Week, presented by Hutchinson Community College.
The week – Hartnett won two individual events and was a part of two victorious relays at the Hutchinson Invitational last Wednesday. Hartnett won the 200-yard individual medley in runaway fashion, finishing the race in 2 minutes, 22.39 seconds, winning by nearly 18 seconds. He also won the 100 backstroke in a time of 1:13.7. Hartnett was also on the winning 200 medley relay (1:55.59) and 400 freestyle relay (3:48.18).
The season – Hartnett has earned state consideration for his times in the 200 individual medley, and the 400 freestyle relay team he’s on has qualified directly for the state meet. Although Hartnett, a senior, has split time between swimming and diving before, he is focusing on swimming this season. He has been lauded in the past and has won the “Heart of the Team” award the last two seasons.
Each week, Ad Astra Radio recognizes an outstanding athlete from the area teams we cover.
