Nickerson High School senior Elizabeth Dick captured first place at 235 pounds at the Circle Girls Invitational wrestling tournament Friday and Saturday at Towanda.
Buhler’s Macey Parks captured the 140-pound weight class and Smoky Valley’s Kate Griffin won the 190-pound weight class.
Smoky Valley placed fourth in the team standings with 126.5 points, McPherson placed ninth with 74 points, Buhler was 11th with 61.5 points, Nickerson was 17th with 25 points and Hillsboro was 18th with 15 points.
Frontenac edged out Clay Community 179-173.5 for the Circle Invitational girls team title. Independence placed third with 128 points and Wellington was fifth with 102.5.
Nickerson’s Bella Brinkley placed eighth at 105 pounds. Also competing for the Panthers but not placing were Nevaeh Larson at 120 pounds and Brooklyn Schneider at 130 pounds.
In addition to Parks winning the title at 140 pounds, Buhler’s Maliyah Jackson placed third at 145 pounds, Gewn Stewart was fifth at 115 pounds and Myah Dean was seventh at 110 pounds.
Also competing for the Crusaders were Swayze Redman, 120 pounds; Kennedee Applegate and Olivia Hall, 130 pounds; Griffyn Showalter, 135 pounds; and Abigail Ehret, 155 pounds.
Hillsboro posted two seventh-place finishes: Kinsley Watts, 100 pounds; and Anna King, 145 pounds. Also competing for the Trojans were Kenslie Friesen, 125 pounds; Riley Cummings, 135 pounds; McKenzie Parson,140 pounds; and Claire Morey, 155 pounds.
In addition to Griffin’s title at 190 pounds, Smoky Valley had six other wrestlers place in the top six. Brylee Ricketts placed second at 130 pounds and Magdalene Riedel was second at 140 pounds.
Smoky Valley’s Madison Zeller was fourth at 235 pounds, Roxana Riedel was fifth at 135 pounds and Echo Clark Pavlovich was sixth at 120 pounds.
Also competing for the Vikings were Gracie Brady at 125 pounds and Kaitlyn Schoshke at 155 pounds.
