Hutchinson 47, Salina South 0, Thursday – The Salthawks posted their third consecutive shutout for the first time since 1946, and they also held their third straight opponent to fewer than 100 yards of offense as Salina South mustered just 77 yards of offense, including minus-43 yards rushing.

Kade Smith had another monster game for the Salthawks offensively, as he gained 319 yards on 21 carries and scored three touchdowns. Terrell King added 81 yards on the ground, while Jeremyah Gaitho Karanu scored a pair of rushing touchdowns.

The Salthawks improved to 3-1 and will take on the top-ranked team in Class 6A, Derby, next week.

Sedgwick 35, Marion 8 – Sedgwick took the suspense out of a highly-anticipated showdown in Class 1A District 6 with a dominant first half.

Quarterback Corey Crumrine completed 11 of 17 first-half passes for 249 yards and four touchdowns. His final touchdown pass was a 42-yard bomb to Dallas Lagree with 15 seconds left in the first quarter. Crumrine also threw a pair of second-quarter strikes to Owen Luper from 25 and 17 yards, plus a 43-yard touchdown pass to Noah Little.

Ellsworth 48, Lyons 7 – Landin Johnson opened the scoring for Ellsworth on their second possession with a 62-yard touchdown run, the first of his two scores. Dax Leiker then added a 7-yard touchdown reception from Tucker Goss.

Lyons answered with an Ethan Luck touchdown pass to Quanick Hamilton, but Ellsworth scored four more first-half touchdowns, in taking a 41-7 lead at halftime.

Johnson led Ellsworth with 206 rushing yards on 19 carries.

Macksville 26, Stafford 14 – In their first meeting since 2007, the Macksville Mustangs came away with a 12-point win over the Stafford Trojans in Stafford.

After a scoreless first quarter, Orion Guevara of Macksville scored the night’s first touchdown on a 2-yard run to put the Mustangs up 6-0 at halftime.  Each team scored in the third quarter, as Macksville held a 14-6 lead going into the fourth.  Guevara helped seal the deal in the fourth, though, finishing with a hat-trick as he added touchdown runs of 9 and 28 yards. Guevara finished with 106 yards and three scores and also recovered a fumble on defense with just over 40 seconds remaining to wrap up the win.  Stafford put up 190 yards of offense compared to 177 for the Mustangs.  Macksville got two defense takeaways to level things out in the win.
