The Andale boys’ wrestling team, as well as the girls’ and boys’ bowling teams, continue to deliver strong performances in January.
The Andale boys wrestling team finished third at the Newton Tournament of Champions that wrapped up on Saturday. The Indians had two individual champions, Ethan Eck at 175 pounds and Tristen Cox at 150. Eck defeated Salina Central’s Abram Owings by a major decision, 9-0. Cox won a 7-2 decision over Washburn Rural’s Broyde Kocher-Munoz. Judd Eck finished third at 132. Andale got fourth-place finishes from Levi Schmidt (106) and Luke Martin (113). Luke Seiler finished fifth at 126, and Emmett Eck took sixth at 157. Andale had 159 points, finishing 6.5 points behind runner-up Maize and 8.5 points behind Washburn Rural. Andale will travel to Wellington for a double duel against the Crusaders and Clearwater on Thursday.
The Andale boys bowling team set a new school record with a score of 2,585, winning a triangular against Mulvane and McPherson on January 13. Konnor Bretthauer led the way with a 706 series. The Andale girls also won their dual against Mulvane and McPherson with a score of 2,014. Riley Stoll led the way with a 569 series. Andale competed in the Bishop Carroll Invitational on Saturday. Results have not been released. Andale hosts El Dorado and Cheney on Monday in a tri at Bowelero Northridge in Wichita.
