Andale Indians Head to Class 3A State Championship for Second Consecutive Year

ANDALE, Kan. — The Andale Indians are heading back to Hutchinson for a second consecutive year. 

After holding a 20-7 halftime lead over Rock Creek, the Indians shut out the Mustangs in the second half, 21-0, en route to a 41-7 victory, extending their winning streak to 25 games.

For the second consecutive week, Andale started the game with a long time. This time, it lasted over 7-and-a-half minutes with Sam Harp capping the drive off with a 9-yard touchdown run. On the Indians’ second drive, Jrayton Dansel extended the Indians’ lead with a 1-yard touchdown run with 9:02 left in the half. Andale’s defense forced Rock Creek to turn the ball over on downs, and one play later, Harp found the endzone with a 45-yard run. Rock Creek gained momentum with Tate Smith finding Peter Martine for a 4-yard touchdown reception with 48 seconds left before half. 

Andale made halftime adjustments, forcing a Rock Creek punt on the first drive of the second half, and the Indians scored another with Harp finding the endzone with a 6-yard run. Harp scored with no time left in the third quarter with a 1-yard run by Harp. Jack Horsch added a 16-yard touchdown run with 6:23 left in the game. 

Harp finished with 117 yards rushing and 80 yards passing and four touchdowns, while Horsch had 92 yards rushing and 50 yards receiving a score. 

Andale (12-0) will face Hayden for a second consecutive year in the Class 3A State Championship game at 6 p.m. Friday at Gowans Stadium in Hutchinson. Hayden defeated Santa Fe Trail, 46-0, to advance to Hutchinson. The Midway Motors Drive to the Game begins at 5:30 p.m. on Kicks 106.1 FM, adastraradio.com, the Ad Astra Radio App, and on Ad Astra TV.
