Andale Sweeps Rose Hill to Open AVCTL-IV Play

ANDALE, Kan. — The Andale basketball teams opened up league play on Tuesday with a sweep over Rose Hill.

The Andale boys (2-1, 1-0 AVCTL-IV) defeated the Rockets, 60-51. Rose Hill jumped out to a 5-0 lead with Andale responding with five consecutive points before trailing 10-7 after the first quarter. Rose Hill led by as many as eight at 15-7 in the second quarter, but Andale finished the half with a 16-7 run to lead 23-22 at halftime. After Rose Hill took a brief one-point lead to start the third quarter, Andale went on a 15-0 run en route to a 40-31 lead heading to the fourth. Rose Hill cut the deficit to five in the fourth, but not any closer. Caden Fowler led Andale with 16 points, Jack Horsch with 14, and Hunter Grimes added 12.

The Andale girls (2-1, 1-0 AVCTL-IV) defeated the Lady Rockets, 80-12. Andale never trailed in the game, leading 19-6 after one and 44-8 at halftime. The fourth quarter was contested with a running clock with the Lady Indians leading 62-12. Abbi Winter led Andale with 22 points, 17 coming in the first half. Addy Orth added a career-high 12 off the bench, Brooke Grimes tallied 11, and Edyn Stolz had 10.

Andale wraps up the pre-Christmas schedule with a doubleheader at Wellington on Friday.
