EL DORADO, Kan. — The Andale basketball teams resumed AVCTL-IV play at El Dorado and came out with a sweep on Tuesday.
The Andale girls snapped a 2-game losing streak with a 64-40 victory over the Lady Wildcats. The Andale boys, ranked fifth in Class 4A, never trailed in a 67-42 victory over the Wildcats.
In the girls game, Andale led most of the way, despite trailing 4-2 early. Andale led 14-11 at the end of the first quarter and used a 20-point second quarter to lead 34-24 at halftime. The Lady Indians had a carbon copy third quarter by scoring 20 points and led 54-33 heading into the fourth. Andale led by as many as 24 late in the game. Abbi Winter led the way for Andale with 20 points, while Edyn Stolz added a career-high 13 points. Andale is now 3-3 on the season and 2-1 in AVCTL-IV play.
The Andale boys jumped out to a 6-0 lead and led 17-7 after one. El Dorado cut the deficit to three in the second, but Andale closed the second quarter with a 9-0 run to lead 27-15 at halftime. Andale used a 20-point third quarter to lead 47-31 heading into the fourth. The Indians led by as many as 25 in the game. Jack Horsch led three Indians with 13 points, Caden Fowler added 12 points and 11 rebounds, while Hunter Grimes tallied 10 points and nine rebounds. Andale extended its winning streak to four and is now 5-1 and 3-0 in AVCTL-IV play.
Andale returns home on Friday to take on Wichita Collegiate.
