ANDALE, Kan. — The Andale basketball teams concluded the regular season with a sweep over Clearwater on Thursday.
The Andale girls defeated Clearwater, 56-27, to wrap up the regular season with a 15-6 record and an 8-2 mark in AVCTL-IV play. Andale led 8-4 after the first quarter, which was followed by a 10-6 run by Clearwater to tie the game at 14 in the second, but Andale used an 11-4 run to take a 25-18 lead at halftime. Once Andale got up 10 points on a Brooke Grimes 3-pointer to start the second half, the lead never got lower than 12. Abbi Winter led Andale with 14 points, Rylee Winter added 11 off the bench and Grimes added 10.
Andale will play its first game of sub-state at home on Tuesday.
The Andale boys cruised to a 79-37 victory to finish the regular season 16-5 and 9-1 in AVCTL-IV play. Andale scored the game’s first 11 points and never looked back, leading 27-11 after one and 38-25 at halftime. Andale scored 30 points in the third quarter for a 67-31 lead, triggering a running clock for the fourth quarter. Jack Horsch led Andale with 22 points, while Caden Fowler added 16 and Hunter Grimes had 12.
Andale will play its first game of sub-state at home on Wednesday.
Sub-State pairings will be announced on Saturday by KSHSAA.
