AUGUSTA, Kan. — The Andale girls basketball team continues to find ways to be on top when a game concludes.
On Tuesday, the Lady Indians had to hold off Augusta, 41-38, in their lone game of the week and extending their winning streak to five.
Augusta led by as many as five in the first quarter at 10-5, but Andale responded and tied the game at 10 heading into the second. Brooke Grimes began the second with a 4-point play that helped the Lady Indians to a five-point advantage. Both teams went back and forth, with Andale taking a 24-23 lead at halftime. Andale held the lead for the majority of the third quarter and led by as many as 11, and led 34-25 heading to the fourth. Augusta began the fourth with a 7-0 run to cut the deficit to two, but the Lady Indians would not allow the Lady Orioles to tie to regain the lead.
Grimes led the way with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Abbi Winter and Edyn Stoltz each had 11.
Andale (7-3) is off until January 29, when it opens up play in the Wildcat Classic in Haven. The Lady Indians’ first-round matchup has yet to be announced.
