WINFIELD, Kan. — The Andale boys wrestling team will be sending eight to state after finishing as the regional runner-up in the Class 4A Regional hosted by Winfield on Saturday.
Andale finished with 172.5 points, behind Rose Hill. The Indians had five regional champions: Levi Schmidt (106), Luke Martin (113), Judd Eck (132), Tristen Cox (150) and Ethan Eck (175). Luke Seiler (126), Grant Eck (138) and Emmett Eck (157) all finished third in their respective weight classes to qualify for state.
Andale coaches Doug Eck and Trent Cox were named regional coaches of the year, while Judd Eck was named the regional wrestler of the year from the Kansas Wrestling Coaches Association.
The Class 4A State Wrestling Championships will take place Friday and Saturday at Tony’s Pizza Events Center in Salina.
