A large contingent of Ad Astra Radio area athletes qualified for the KSHSAA State Track & Field Championships on May 30 and 31 at Cessna Stadium in Wichita. Area teams across the state were at 3A Regional meets in Fredonia, Pomona and Scott City on Thursday.
The Smoky Valley girls claimed the team title in 3A at West Franklin (Pomona), while the Garden Plain and Cheney girls tied for first place at Fredonia. The biggest individual highlight of the day saw Hesston’s Ashley Lehman claim regional titles in all four of her events, the 100m dash, 200m dash, 400m dash and pole vault.
