McPHERSON, Kan. – For our final McPherson High School Fall Sports preview, Ad Astra Radio will cover Bullpup Cross Country.
The team heads into the 2024 season with an experienced group, including four senior boys and two senior girls, including senior Lexi Patterson who finished in 14th in the 4A State race in Wamego. They also return junior Caleb Muehler, who was the individual state champion in 2023 with a 5K time of 15:58, which is listed on athletic.net as the best time in school history.
Prior to state, both the girls and boys teams finished 3rd in Regionals with multiple top 20 finishers. As a team, the McPherson boys finished in 9th and the girls in 11th, but will look to turn things around with their experienced lineup and make noise in the state this season.
Their first meet is Sept. 5 in Great Bend. The team will have multiple local meets before heading to the historic Rim Rock Classic in Lawrence, which consists of dozens of schools from Kansas and neighboring states. Regionals will be held on Oct. 26 and the 4A State meet will be in Wamego on Nov. 2.
