The Iola City Council will be asked Monday to remove a property at 415 North Elm from the condemnation process. At the March 9th meeting the Council adopted a resolution authorizing condemnation of the property and removal of a house.
Jeff Heinrich, who represents the owner of the property, is making the request to allow corrective actions to be taken. Heinrich’s agenda request said the porch will be removed and plumbing repaired as soon as possible.
He also indicated an application for a housing rehabilitation grant through Thrive Allen County is being pursued. Staff has recommended this property, which is currently subject to a tax foreclosure suit, not be removed from the list.
During Monday’s 6 PM meeting at the Riverside Park Community Building the Council will consider award of bids for sanitary sewer liming and purchase of a water distribution dump truck.
Other agenda items include requests from the Allen County Grow Council, Iola Theatre Association, and the Iola Municipal Band along with one connected with Iola High School prom. The council will also have a roundtable discussion on temporary vendor permits and an executive session is planned to discuss property acquisition.
