In the wake of Saturday morning’s wind damage, the city of Goessel is working on a disaster report to submit to the state of Kansas, which could result in assistance being made available, depending on what that amounts to. The city has provided the following information
1. What We Need You to Track & Submit
Whether you are dealing with damage on your own property or volunteered to help a neighbor, please collect the following information:
– Property Address: The exact location where the damage or cleanup occurred.
– Description of Damage: A brief summary of what was damaged (e.g., roof structure, broken windows, destroyed fences, specific tree damage).
– Pictures of Damage: Take clear photos of all damage before or during cleanup.
– Volunteer & Man-Hours: Track the exact amount of time spent cleaning up (e.g., “3 people worked for 4 hours = 12 man-hours”).
– Equipment Used & Equipment Hours: Note what machinery was used and for how long (e.g., chainsaw used for 2 hours, skid steer used for 1 hour).
Where to send it: Please submit this information, along with your photos, as soon as possible via:
– Facebook Messenger: Send it directly to the Get Goessel Facebook page.
– Email: Send it to [email protected].
2. Branch & Debris Cleanup Schedule
We have coordinated the following pickup plan:
– Where to Place Debris: Please pile your tree branches and limbs right at the edge of your property on the side of the road/curbside.
– Pickup Days: Official pickup will begin this coming Monday. We are tentatively planning a second cleanup day for Thursday (pending confirmation).
– Burnsite Warning: Please use this temporary curbside service instead of hauling debris yourself. The burnsite road is incredibly muddy right now, and we want to ensure no residents or vehicles get stuck trying to access it.
3. Safety Reminder
Power Lines: Please continue to report any low or downed power lines directly to Evergy. Do not approach them under any circumstances.
Thank you all for your incredible resilience, your hard work, and for taking the time to document this data so we can accurately report Goessel’s total impact to the state!
