The Neosho County Community College Panthers battled hard against Pratt Community College on Wednesday night, falling 0-1 in a competitive and hard-fought conference match.
Despite the final result, Neosho put together a strong performance, particularly in the second half, where the Panthers took control of the game and created multiple opportunities to find an equalizer.
Panthers Dominate the Second Half
Neosho came out of halftime with energy and determination and began to take control of the match. The Panthers created consistent pressure in the attacking third and put Pratt’s defense under pressure throughout the second half.
Neosho finished the second half with 10 shots, including 8 shots on goal, but unfortunately could not find the finishing touch needed to get the ball into the back of the net.
The Panthers continued to attack, create chances, and look for the equalizer until the final whistle. While the team was unable to turn its opportunities into goals, the second-half performance showed the attacking potential and determination of the group.
A Difficult Result, But Plenty to Build On
The 0-1 result was a difficult one for the Panthers, especially considering the chances created and the way Neosho controlled much of the second half. The team showed its willingness to compete, continued to play with purpose, and never stopped looking for a way back into the match.
Creating 10 shots and putting 8 of them on target demonstrates that the Panthers were able to generate opportunities. The next step is finding the composure and execution necessary to turn those chances into goals.
Neosho will take the positives from the performance while continuing to work on the areas that need improvement.
The Panthers are now 1-2 in conference play and will look to continue competing and improving as the conference season moves forward.
Looking Ahead to Southeast
Neosho will have an opportunity to respond on Saturday when the Panthers take on Southeast Community College in a non-conference matchup.
Although Saturday’s game will not affect the Panthers’ conference record, it provides another important opportunity for the team to compete, improve, and build confidence heading into the remainder of the season.
The focus will be on carrying out the positive aspects of the Pratt performance into Saturday — especially the attacking pressure, chance creation, and second-half intensity — while improving the team’s ability to finish opportunities.
The Panthers will regroup, learn from Wednesday’s match, and get back to work preparing for Southeast.
