Margaret Ellen SimonHutchinson, KS

On September 14, 2026, Margaret Ellen Simon, 82, closed her eyes in death and opened them with new mind and body to her Savior’s face. Margaret, better known as Mom, Grandma, Grammy or Aunt Margie, was born on November 1, 1943, to Virgil Leslie and Leda Carol (Webb) Jellison. She was a farm girl, raised in rural Protection, Kansas. With 9 siblings that she dearly loved, she attended Protection schools and later moved to the big city of Hutchinson to attend Sidney’s Hairdressing College.

While in Hutch, she met and married Roscoe Williams. Together, they founded Mobile Service Auto Glass and Body Shop Supply. The greatest gift of that union was her two daughters, Leslie and Debra. She was an affectionate mom, often using her hairdressing education to fashion the girls in the latest updos.

In December 1980, she married the love of her life, Bill Simon. They shared 24 years of marriage before he passed in November 2005.

Margie loved people. She loved spending time with her family camping and fishing. As a member of First Baptist Church and later Medora Community Bible Church, she was always behind the scenes working to serve people in children’s ministries, washing dishes, making food, and just generally showing love and care. Her table was always big enough for another person.

One of her proudest titles was grandma. She could always be found in the bleachers of her grandkids’ games. She spent countless hours baking, gardening, sewing, playing and praying with them. She would never turn down a game of PIG or backyard baseball. And, her homemade beef and noodles, pizza, sugar cookies, and popsicles are forever embedded in their hearts.

Margaret’s joy only grew as great-grandkids started coming. Affectionally known as Grammy, they loved her spoiling and attention.

At the end of her life, she faced the trial of Alzheimer’s with much grace. This broken world may have taken her mind, but we know that it couldn’t steal her soul, as Margaret was a child of God. More than anything, she would want the world to know that you don’t have to suffer without hope. Jesus is real, He loves you and He died on the cross so you too can have hope. (1Peter 1:3) While our hearts break for the loss of this world, we look forward to seeing her again someday.

In addition to her husband and parents, Margaret was preceded in death by five brothers, Leslie Jellison, Howard Jellison, Ben Jellison, Byron Lee Jellison, and Victor Jellison; and three sisters; Carol Keller, Beatrice Mann, and Linda Sue Ballew.

Margaret is survived by three daughters; Jolene Reynolds and husband Dean of Wayne, NE, Leslie Mandeville and husband Ron of Hutchinson, KS, Debra Gardner and husband Trey of Nickerson, KS; one sister, Verita Larrick and husband Ron; 3 sisters-in-law, Ruth Ann Jellison, Patrica Jellison, and Esther Andrews; six grandchildren, Mike Reynolds (Lisa), Steve Reynolds, Sabrina Julian (Shaun) , Ethan Mandeville (Leah), Nathanael Gardner (Katharine), and Kaylie Diggs (Thomas); 13 great-grandchildren, Jacob, Mason, Garret, Nolan, Carson, Evan, Eveyln, Noah, Carter, Marshall, Jack, Lydia and Baby Diggs; numerous nieces and nephews and countless friends.

Visitation will be Thursday, September 24, 2026, Medora Community Bible Church, 8311 Medora Rd. Hutchinson, KS. Family will be present from 5:30 -7:30 p.m.

The Funeral Service will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 25, 2026, at Medora Community Bible Church. Burial will follow at the Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson, KS.
