Laura “Joann” TascheChanute, KS

Laura Joann Tasche, 90 passed away at Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center in Chanute on Sunday, September 6, 2026.
Joann was born on May 8, 1936 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to John and Ruby (Tribble) Burwell. Through the years, Joann moved from Tulsa to Wichita to Kansas City, then settling in Humboldt, Kansas. On April 18, 1954, Joann married Walter “Corky” Tasche in Humboldt. The two enjoyed 62 years of marriage until his passing on February 17, 2017. Joann worked side by side with Corky operating Corky’s Used Cars for over 40 years.
Joann was quite the seamstress, she made curtains for NuWa Campers, and made numerous baby blankets for all her grandchildren, prom and wedding dresses for her daughters and her children’s clothes. Joann was also an expert when creating Pretty Punch embroidery. She was a devoted reader, and loved to do puzzle games.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Ruby Burwell, and husband, Corky.
Joann is survived by her children, Brian Tasche, Connie (Charlie) See, and Linda Tasche, brother, John Burwell, sister, Nancy Bammes, 7 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 10th at Countryside Funeral Home with the family greeting friends from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. Funeral services will then be held on Friday, September 11th at 10:00am at Countryside Funeral Home with burial following at Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be left in Joann’s name to the Cherry Street Youth Center and can be left with the funeral home.
