Marna Ruth GoeringMoundridge, KS

Marna R. Goering was born to Henry B. and Helen E. Neufeld (Regier) on August 7, 1934. She grew up on a farm southeast of Inman with 5 brothers and sisters. The family attended the Hoffnungsau Mennonite Church. She graduated from Inman High School and attended Bethel College for a brief time. Later, while working as a bookkeeper at the Buhler Lumberyard, she met Vernon R. Goering. They were married on July 26, 1956, and had three children, Kevin, Jolene and Janet. She passed away on September 1, 2026.

Marna and Vernon settled on his family’s farm southwest of Moundridge. The farming operation included both grain and livestock. In addition to Harvey County in central Kansas, they also had operations in Lane County in western Kansas. Throughout this time, Marna planned and prepared countless meals for the family and any hired men that were employed during the summers.

In addition, Marna was actively involved in the Eden Mennonite Church. She sang in the choir and was part of the Mary Martha women’s group. After the children were grown, she drove to Hutchinson and Newton to volunteer at the two Et Cetera Shops.

After 40 years on the farm, Marna and Vernon moved into Moundridge and lived in a home on the north side of town until Vernon’s passing in November of 2017.

Other family members who preceded Marna include her parents, sisters Edna Bartel, Wilma Goertz, Bertha Krehbiel; and brothers Edgar Neufeld and Eldo Neufeld.

She is survived by son Kevin (Sheryl), daughters Jo Stucky (Darrel), Jan Nattier (Gregg), grandchildren Matt Goering (Kayla), Lisa Schunn (Casey), Tyler Nattier, Madison Bolton (Micah), and Hayley Carrillo (Julian) and great-grandchildren Tate Goering, Emery Goering, August Schunn and Holden Schunn.

Graveside services will be at 10:00 am on Tuesday September 8, 2026, at the Eden Mennonite Church Cemetery, Moundridge. Memorial services will follow at 11:00 am at Eden Mennonite Church. There will be no visitation.
