Ronald Louis Ohl, of rural Westphalia, Kansas, passed away Monday, August 31, 2026, at Menorah Medical Center in Overland Park, Kansas. He was 72 years old.

Ron was born October 23, 1953, in Wichita, Kansas, the son of Robert and Pauline (Fischer) Ohl. He grew up in Conway Springs, Kansas, where he attended school and graduated from Conway Springs High School in 1971. After graduation, he did what came naturally — he farmed and raised cattle, honest work that reflected the man he was.

On February 8, 1975, Ron married Louise Cecelia Hecht at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Andale, Kansas, beginning a partnership that would span more than 51 years and bring five children into the world. The couple made their home in Conway Springs before moving to their farm near Aliceville, Kansas, where they built their life together. A man of tireless work ethic, Ron balanced farming and ranching alongside careers at IBP in Emporia for more than eleven years and at the Walmart Distribution Center in Ottawa for twenty years, retiring in 2016. Retirement hardly slowed him down — he was happiest lending a hand at harvest and haying time alongside local farmers and his sons, tending his garden, and following his grandchildren in all their activities.

Faith and community were central to who Ron was. He was a devoted member of St. Teresa Catholic Church in Westphalia and of the Knights of Columbus. He served faithfully on the board of directors for Coffey County Rural Water District #3 for 25 years, and took quiet but genuine pride in helping maintain the St. Philippine Duchesne Shrine — a labor of love that reflected his deep sense of duty to the people and places he called home.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Julia Klein.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Louise; his children, Heath Ohl (Ellen) of Waverly, Kevin Ohl (Kayla) of LeRoy, Monica Rolf (John) of Westphalia, Kenny Ohl (Lori) of Chanute, and Laurie Goracke (Cody) of LeRoy; fifteen grandchildren, Kolgan (Logan), Jayln, Kyra, Emily, Karley, Kinley, John, Carter, Tyler, Hayden, Harper, Augustus, Ava, Hattie, and Woodrow; his siblings, Wilma Elliott (Bill) of San Antonio, Texas, Howard Ohl (Helen) of Conway Springs, Ralph Ohl (Linda) of Conway Springs, Lloyd Ohl (Mary) of Medicine Lodge, and Dale Ohl (Donna) of Hutchinson; a brother-in-law, Herb Klein of Kansas City; and numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, September 4, 2026, at St. Teresa Catholic Church in Westphalia, with burial to follow in St. Teresa Catholic Cemetery. A Rosary will be recited at 6:30 P.M. on Thursday evening at St. Teresa Catholic Church, with visitation to follow.
