Michael Anthony RheaHutchinson, KS

Michael Anthony Rhea, 68, passed away August 24, 2026, at his home in Hutchinson. He was born June 20, 1958, in Henryetta, OK.

In 1975, Michael graduated from Fairfield High School, Langdon, KS, in 1975, and shortly after attended Hutchinson Community College. Throughout his life, Michael held several different jobs. Most recently, he worked at Spirit AeroSystems in Wichita, as a CMM Inspector.

Michael was a true car enthusiast, with a particular love for American muscle cars before later developing an appreciation for German automobiles. His passion for cars extended beyond admiring them, as he also enjoyed working on them. He began developing his mechanical skills while in high school and college, working as a mechanic.

Michael is survived by: his children, Amber Rhoden of Lawrence, KS, Aaron (Katie) Rhea of Monroe, LA, and Morgan Rhea of Hutchinson, KS; step-daughter, Dawn Thomas of Panama City, FL; half-sister, Jackie Lynn Rhea; son-in-law, Lucas Bontrager of Hutchinson, KS; grandchildren, Samuel Rhoden, Rhettley Bontrager, and Mila Bontrager;

He was preceded in death by his little sister, Marjorie Marie “Sissy” Rhea and mother-in-law, Doris Price.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 3, 2026, at Elliott Mortuary chapel. Friends may sign his memorial book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. until day of service at Elliott Mortuary. Family will receive friends an hour prior to the service on Thursday.
