It is with profound sadness and shock that we announce the unexpected passing of Aaron Wayne Downing on August 16, 2026. Aaron was 56 years young and deeply loved by his family, friends, and community.

Aaron was born on April 7, 1970, in Wichita, Kansas, at Wesley Medical Center to Dale and Cheri Downing.
After graduating from Andover High School, Aaron attended Kansas State University, where he studied Construction Science. Throughout his career, Aaron worked in both residential and commercial construction, developing one of his greatest passions and talents as a carpenter. He took pride in his work and had a gift for creating things with his own hands.

Aaron will always be remembered for his unwavering dedication to family, his deep appreciation for quality time spent together, and his love of the lake and water sports. Some of life’s greatest moments were found in those days spent together on the water- making memories, sharing laughter, and simply enjoying time with the people he loved most. Those memories will be cherished forever.

Aaron is survived by his beloved family: his father, Dale Downing; his brother, Noel; his children, Zane (Sarah) and Taylor (Jesse); and his grandchildren, London, Liam, Peyton, and Pyper B.

Join Aaron’s family to celebrate his life at 1 pm on Wednesday, August 26th at Eastminster Presbyterian Church. A memorial has been established in honor of Aaron Downing with Wake the World, an organization that reflects Aaron’s love of the water and the joy of sharing it with others.

Aaron’s life may have ended unexpectedly, but the love he gave, the memories he created, and the lives he touched will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
