Gregg Webb, the football coach at the Claflin High School from 1987-2001 and who led the Wildcats to five state titles and four second-place finishes, will be inducted into the Kansas Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame.
Webb and 10 other coaches will be inducted on Dec. 12 at the Hyatt Regency in Wichita.
Webb, who also was inducted into the Greater Kansas City Football Coaches Association (GKCFCA) in June, graduated from Tescott (Kan.) High School and Kansas State University.
He began his coaching career at Claflin, Kan., where he won five state titles between 1987-2001 (two Eight-Man II titles and three Class 2-1A state titles). Webb coached the Claflin Wildcats to a 152-24 mark from 1987-2001.
Webb also coached the Claflin girls basketball team for the 1996-97 season — the senior season for the great Jackie Stiles (who has been inducted into six Halls of Fame). Claflin and Quivira Heights consolidated to form Central Plains High School in 2010.
In 2002, Webb took over the program at Eudora and led the Cardinals to the state playoffs in 10 of 11 years including back-to-back state championship game appearances in 2011 and 2012.
Webb’s 11 years at Eudora resulted in a 96-30 record, 10 playoff appearances and back-to-back state runner-up finishes in 2011 and 2012.
Webb also was the head coach at Truman High School in Independence, Mo., and Butler (Mo.) High School. He currently is an assistant football coach at Gardner-Edgerton (Kan.) High School.
Webb finished his career with a 321-94 record with 23 conference, district and league titles. His playoff record was 63-26.
